Dark City: Platinum Series
Acclaimed as a visually groundbreaking cinematic event upon release (some critics even compared it to Lang's Metropolis), but all that shines is not silver screen. Yes, the production design is interesting, but director Alex Proyas fails to conceal his previous career as a director of seizure-inducing television commercials, and I defy anybody to watch this film and find a shot that lasts more than three seconds. That's annoying enough, not to mention that the plot is alternately incoherent or downright goofy. Good transfer, lots of extras, commentary tracks, one with the director and writer, the other with film critic Roger Ebert.
