Devil's Advocate

One of America's finest actors meets one of its worst movie stars in this overblown saga of a young Southern lawyer who accepts a job with a prestigious New York law firm only to discover that his employer is (gasp) Satan! Once you can get past that, you are left with Keanu Reeves giving perhaps the most competent performance in his career (which still leaves the audience wanting) and the normally brilliant Al Pacino looking like he's just doing this one for the paycheck as he humps the proscenium with nothing but volume and bombast. The silly "twist" ending doesn't help either. Solid transfer, DD 5.1. Snap-case.

(Editor's Note: The original Warner disc of The Devil's Advocate was discontinued for legal reasons and is considered a collector's item. An altered version for home video is now in release.)
