Internal Affairs
Andy Garcia is Raymond, an intense cop new to the internal affairs beat. His first case leads to an obsession with the creepiest, slimiest, most crooked policeman around, brilliantly played by Richard Gere. The first hour or so is top-notch suspense, with Gere and the limited Garcia at their very best. Too bad the ending turns incoherent and weak. Solid direction by Mike Figgis (Leaving Las Vegas), and fine supporting performances by Laurie Metcalf and Nancy Travis. Great-looking 1.85:1 widescreen transfer, and terrific sound, in the original 2.0 Dolby and a DD 5.1 re-mix. Also in French 2.0. Keep-case, no extras.
