Out of Sight: Collector's Edition
Considered to be the best film of 1998 by many critics, Out of Sight tells the story of notorious bank robber Jack Foley (George Clooney), who busts out of a Florida prison, kidnapping U.S. Dep. Marshall Karen Sisco (Jennifer Lopez) during his escape. However, as Foley and other ex-cons vie to make another big heist in Detroit, he and Karen find they can't stop thinking about each other. The supporting cast of Out of Sight is as good as you could want from a movie, including Don Cheadle, Ving Rhames, Albert Brooks, Steve Zahn, Dennis Farina, Michael Keaton, and Isaiah Washington. The adaptation from Elmore Leonard's novel by Scott Frank is enjoyable, and Steven Soderbergh's direction and editing style elevate Out of Sight from a mere crime caper to high cinema. Great transfer, DD 5.1, witty commentary track with Soderbergh and Frank, deleted scenes, 25-minute behind-the-scenes featurette, and the musical-highlights menu features one of this writer's favorite film scores ever.
